Start with cleanup, not rewriting
When AI-generated text looks awkward, it is tempting to rewrite immediately. That can hide the simpler problem: the draft may only contain zero-width marks, hard spaces, markdown residue, or smart punctuation that pasted badly. Run the AI text cleaner first so you can inspect the actual words before changing them.
- Keep the default cleanup options on for hidden characters, hard spaces, repeated spaces, trailing whitespace, and excessive blank lines.
- Use advanced punctuation options only when your destination prefers plain ASCII punctuation.
- Copy the cleaned output into your editor before making tone, structure, or fact changes.
